Riley started full-day kindergarten today and did great! We picked out his desk last Friday during "Meet Your Teacher" night so when we walked into his classroom, he knew exactly which desk was his. The teacher read a story to all the parents and kids about a mama raccoon taking her kid raccoon to school for the first time. And at the end of the story all of the parents got up to leave...there were some tears from kids and parents, but not Riley! He was excited and waved goodbye as I walked out the door with a lump in my throat. I'm glad he's growing up but a little sad he's no longer my little pre-schooler. He even had homework tonight! We had to talk about what respect is and read together for 20 minutes.
He made me laugh last night because his biggest concern about kindergarten was -- "Will I still get the weekend when I start my new school!" He was relieved when I told him he still gets Saturday and Sunday off!
